Selling Formats | Buy Now vs Auctions on Bob Shop

Selling formats on Bob Shop

There are two main selling formats on Bob Shop: Buy Now and Auction. Sellers also have the option to enable the Make an offer feature on their listings.

Buy Now

With Buy Now, you sell an item at a fixed price. Buyers can purchase the item immediately without waiting for the listing to end.
  • Buy Now listings can run for up to 32 days.
  • You can list single or multiple quantities.

  • Unsold items can be relisted.

  • There is no listing fee for Buy Now items.

  • A success fee applies when an item sells.

Making an offer on a listing

You can choose to accept offers on your Buy Now listings when creating the listing. This allows buyers to suggest a price rather than paying the listed price.

When making an offer, buyers enter:

  1. Their offer amount per item.

  2. The quantity they want.

  3. An optional note.

The offer price is per item and excludes shipping.

As a seller, you can accept, decline or make a counter-offer. If an offer is accepted, the transaction is processed as a standard Buy Now order.

Buyers can change or withdraw their offer before it is accepted.

Auction

With an Auction, buyers compete by placing bids on your item. You choose the starting price and how long the auction will run, up to a maximum of 21 days.

  • You can sell single or multiple quantities in one listing.

  • You can set a reserve price if required.

  • Unsold items can be relisted.

  • There is no listing fee for auction items.

  • A success fee applies when an item sells.

Auction with Buy Now

You can add a Buy Now price to an auction listing with a quantity of one. This gives buyers the choice of bidding or buying the item immediately.

The Buy Now option disappears once the bidding reaches the Buy Now price.

Making an offer on a closed auction

If an auction closes without a sale, you can offer the item to eligible buyers, such as runner-up bidders.

Buyers can make offers on closed auction listings for up to 48 hours after the auction closes. The seller sets the price and can accept the offer or negotiate with a counter-offer.

Closed-listing offers are handled on a first-come, first-served basis and expire after 48 hours.

Offer terms

  • Offers are valid for up to 48 hours after a listing closes.

  • Sellers have 48 hours to respond to an offer.

  • Buyers can change or withdraw an offer before it is accepted.

  • Once an offer is accepted, the buyer is committed to completing the purchase.

  • Shipping is not included in the offer price.

  • Standard success fees apply to successful sales.
